Balikbayan is a multimedia exhibition exploring the Filipino immigrant experience in Aotearoa through stories of identity, sacrifice and belonging.
We were challenged to create an identity that honoured the honest stories of migration while fostering an inclusive space for people to share their own.
Inspired by the Balikbayan boxes sent home to loved ones, we blended Filipino maximalism with Western modernism. Layered compositions and weathered postal stamps echo the physical and emotional journey behind every package.
